Peter supports Larapinta Extreme Walkers
Page
This May I have volunteered to assist the Larapinta Extreme Walk (www.larapintaextremewalk.com.au/itinerary) by being part of the support crew and walking sections of the Larapinta Trail. The trail stretches along the West MacDonnell Ranges from Mt Sonder to Alice Springs. This fundraising walk covers 223km over 11 days involving up to 12 hours hiking a day over rocky, mountainous, desert terrain.

This gives me a chance to spend time in this spectacular and unique region and to help raise funds for the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara Women's Council (NPYWC) (www.npywc.org.au/about-npywc/welcome) to support the remote communities they represent.

After spending time working with the NPYWC in 2014  I saw first hand some of the great work that they do in empowering their communities that stretch over 350,000 sq kms of desert country across SA, NT and WA (www.npywc.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/NPYWC-map.jpg)
The work of this organisation was recently recognised nationally with the CEO Andrea Mason being a finalist in the 2017 Australian of the Year award (www.australianoftheyear.org.au/honour-roll/?view=fullView&recipientID=1758).

If it is your wish, any donations to the cause are greatly appreciated (and tax deductible).
