This probably comes as no surprise, but the emu is the largest native bird in Australia! At nearly two meters tall, the emu can run at speeds of 50 km/h. Although the emu’s distribution stretches all over Australia, negative human impacts are affecting its habitat, like coal seam gas (CSG) mining in the Pilliga Forest of New South Wales. We’ll continue to campaign to protect the emu’s habitat in the Pilliga and stand up for all native wildlife that is threatened by destructive industries.
