Indonesia Orangutan Habitat For Survival
$ 5.00
Your $5 will protect 5 hectares of Orangutan habitat in Sumatra’s Bukit Tigapuluh National Park by preventing illegal logging and clearing. Orangutans are only found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra in Indonesia where their survival is threatened by illegal logging and the establishment of Oil Palm plantations. With a wild population of fewer than 7,000, the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) may be the first Great Ape to become extinct. If current logging trends continue, most of Indonesia's National Parks are likely to be severely damaged within the next decade. Your donation helps ensure staff can be employed to patrol protected areas and local communities can be supported in developing a livelihood that benefits from conservation.
