Last year Painted Dog Conservation Inc (PDC Inc) partnered with "Kevin Richardson -The Lion Whisperer" from South Africa and hosted three events in Australia. Funds raised not only went to our frontline projects in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia to conserve the endangered Painted Dogs, but we also contributed to Kevin's campaign to fight the Canned Hunting industry.
In August 2014, the Campaign Against Canned Hunting (CACH) brought to the world's attention the plight of two lion cubs confiscated in Spain. The two little brothers (George and Yame) were being subjected to being constantly photographed by tourists in the cruel cub petting industry, kept on a poor diet to keep them small, and as such suffered malnutrition and numerous medical conditions. They were destined to become a victim of Canned Hunting once adults.
Once confiscated by authorities, no European facilities were interested in having them, so the decision made for there "forever home" to be with Kevin Richardson in South Africa.
PDC Inc raised essential funds to assist with the rescue and relocation of the cubs to Spain, and now the long road to recovery. The boys are getting better each day, have grown substantially however, they have ongoing medical and veterinary costs to be met. We hope that you can be part of their recovery!
