In 2011, 86.1% of 20–24 year olds in Victoria had completed Year 12 or an equivalent qualification. This leaves 60,000 young Victorians without a qualification (ABS, 2011).We believe that education is critical to improved life opportunities. Our experience shows that education can be a passport to employment, better health, stable housing and community connection. That’s why we’ve invested our resources into educational services for young people.
The Melbourne Academy was established to provide supportive, flexible education to young people who are disengaged from education and reconnect them with schooling, which is often the most important step in getting them back on track. Building on the evidence of what works, we provide both social and education supports to help people achieve their goals.
