Centre for Hope was established in 2011 to work with disadvantaged, at risk young people.
Due to community need, our age range has been expanded to work with 6 to 18 year olds.
Our model for working with young people is a dual coaching/mentoring model, with coaches helping them see possibilities beyond their current limiting circumstances, and mentors helping them to take steps toward their goals.
We have grown from working with around 12 students in a single school, to working with around 1,000 young people in 20 schools and community settings.
We have established a Drop In Centre as a safe zone for young people to hang out, a Homework Centre servicing 4 schools, 3 Bike Sheds where young people learn the skills to do up a bike and then have the option of either keeping it, gifting it or selling it.
We run a variety of workshops to engage the young people, including painting, graffiti, skateboards.
All of our activities are aimed at building the young people's self esteem and positive community engagement.
