Cape York’s Girl Academy is Australia’s first boarding school designed for young mothers and their babies and of girls who have been chronically disengaged from their education. Girls Academy is a healing community that nurtures and supports effective and confident mothers, safe and happy children.
While mothers are doing classwork, their babies are cared for at the Early Learning Centre. All mothers share the care of children at the school, working in the learning centre, learning about child development, health and nutrition, communicating and connecting with children.
