Over 6,500 people under the age of 25 are homeless in Queensland and the rate of homelessness in inner city Brisbane rose 68% from 2011 to 2016.
Each year, BYS supports over 2,200 young people. In total throughout 2017/18 1,355 young people received ongoing support last year from BYS, and an additional 1,505 young people received casual support. Of those we supported 55% were experiencing homelessness and 80% were living in unsafe/unstable or uncomfortable housing.

92% fewer young people sleeping rough
76% fewer young people couch surfing
71% reduction in the proportion of young people in unsafe or unsuitable housing
203% increase in young people moving into public housing
166% increase in young people moving into private rental
