HISTORY IN ACTION!
Restored barque James Craig is 133 years old, but she is just one of five centenarians in Sydney Heritage Fleet. Vice-regal steam yacht Lady Hopetoun, steam tug Waratah, gentleman’s schooner Boomerang and harbour launch Protex are all in the 100+ league. These graceful old ladies are joined by harbour launches Harman & Berrima and pleasure speedboat Kookaburra II as operational vessels in our fleet.
Nowhere else in the world can you see – and sail on – a collection of historic vessels of this age. ALL SAVED, RESTORED & KEPT OPERATIONAL BY VOLUNTEERS.
Currently underway at our heritage shipyard is the restoration of the coastal steamer John Oxley. Next project in line is the inner-harbour ferry Kanagra. Our mission is not just to preserve old ships but to CONSERVE THE SKILLS TO REPAIR, MAINTAIN & OPERATE them as well.
This living museum also includes collections of small boats & heritage engines, an important maritime records & research centre and a model building worksho
