SANE Australia is a national mental health charity working to promote the wellbeing of the four million Australians affected by complex mental illness including schizophrenia, bipolar, personality disorders, eating disorders, PTSD, and severe and enduring mood and anxiety disorders.
2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the SANE Help Centre, the only support service of its kind in Australia for people affected by complex mental illness. This free national service currently relies solely on the generosity of our philanthropic and community support.
First established as just a phone line, the service model evolved to include email and live chat provided by specialist mental health professionals. In 2017, with your support e extended the weekday operating hours from 5pm to 10pm, ensuring that people
who previously couldn’t reach us after hours can now get the support and information they need. This is particularly important for those we support in WA, SA and NT.
Today the service provides 12,000 hours of specialist support each year to the public via phone, webchat and email. By 2020 we want to expand our Help Centre services to provide specialised integrated support for 40,000 Australians per year.
With your generous support we can significantly grow the impact of this vital national service with gifts of $2, $5, $10 or $25 per month.
