Parkinson's is a chronic, progressive illness that affects over 27,000 Victorians and for which there is no cure. It is a condition that affects the motor nervous system and alters co-ordination and movement. It has a range of non-motor symptoms including depression, pain and problems with sleep.
Parkinson's affects people in different ways; no two people will have exactly the same symptoms or experience of Parkinson's.
Parkinson's Victoria raises awareness and funds for services and research that improves the quality of life for people living with Parkinson's. Every day through our multi-disciplinary health team we provide information, education, advice and peer support services.
We are a not-for-profit organisation and rely heavily on fundraising and generous donations from out community to continue and grow our delivery of support services.
