Case Study 2: IN MEMORIAL DONATIONS - Tobin Brothers
Background: Tobin Brothers is the largest independently owned funeral
provider in Victoria.
Issue: Since 1934 Tobin Brothers have been accepting donations in lieu of
flowers for funerals. Yet Tobin Brothers wondered if there was a more accountable, secure
and simple means to donate online through their website.
Solution: Working together with Tobin Brothers, the Karma Foundation built
a web portal which now allows the bereaved to donate in lieu of flowers online 24/7, leave a
message of condolence and receive a tax deductible receipt.
Outcome: Since launching in March 2010 over $30,000 in secure donations
have been made online to over a dozen charities. Traffic to the website has increased as
has customer engagement and loyalty.

Case Study 3: REWARDS AND RECOGINITION - Metlink
Background: Metlink is the face of public transport in Melbourne. A
partnership of Melbourne’s train, tram and bus operators, Metlink provides customers
with a ‘one-stop-shop’ for information about services, fares and ticketing.
Issue: As part of their Karma Fare Evasion Campaign, Metlink were
looking for a positive way to reward commuters for buying and stamping their
tickets.
Solution: Metlink issued over $18,000 worth of Charity Gift Vouchers
to travellers to then pass onto their charity of choice. Over 900 $5 vouchers and
500 $10 vouchers were issues plus five lucky commuters received $500 Charity Gift
Vouchers.
Outcome: Commuters donated towards over 100 different charitable
projects helping to educate kids, protect rainforests, supply blankets for the
homeless and more. Metlink also received thousands of dollars worth of positive
press in MX, The Age and The Australian.
