Conservation work begins with research.
By studying populations of dolphins and whales, we begin to understand what they eat, how they catch it, how many animals live together and if this changes over time, what skills they pass on from one generation to the next, how long they live and how many calves they have. Armed with this knowlege, WDCS researchers give powerful, scientifically based evidence to governments and campaign for the protection of these marine animals.
WDCS researchers are out on the water every week. It costs $25,000 to operate the boat over one year - your contribution of $480 will keep the research boat on the water for one week.
