Sponsor a child to play sport - $200

Children love to play sport, but for children from refugee families the costs of joining a team, getting to games or training, can be insurmountable. We can assist these children by paying for registration costs for athletics or team sports, and providing them with the required sporting equipment and uniforms. Their resettlement in Australia is so much enhanced by being able to take part in this quintessential part of Aussie life. Participation in sport adds so much more than a physical workout. Literacy, socialisation and self-esteem are all winning outcomes from being part of the wider community through sport. Parents too find a common ground and so the whole family can benefit from this interaction and the integration process is enhanced for everyone. Help us to enable a child from a refugee family to join a local sporting organisation of their choice - we have assisted three young people who are now representing their region in Rugby Union, boxing and Little Athletics.
