By making a donation in support of our Daintree Plant a Rainforest Project you will be helping to provide habitat and a natural food source for the Endangered Southern Cassowary. Your gift of $25 will enable Rainforest Rescue to plant and maintain one rainforest tree for two years. The Endangered Southern Cassowary is one of the world's most prehistoric birds, found only in the dense tropical rainforests for Far North Queensland Australia. Habitat destruction through the clearing and fragmentation of rainforest for residential development has reduced Cassowary numbers to as few as 1,000 in the wild. Rainforest Rescue is working to protect and restore what little Cassowary habitat remains through the purchase of high conservation value rainforest and the planting of rainforest trees on cleared areas of rainforest.
