Together with chimpanzees, bonobo’s are mankind's closest relative. The last great ape to be discovered by science, bonobo’s live only in the Congo Basin, the world’s second largest rainforest, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Decades of warfare, habitat loss and victimisation due to the bushmeat trade are all threatening the security of the bonobo’s future. Many infants are sold into the misery of the pet trade, where they spend their life in chains with owners who can never give them the life they deserve. WSPA is working closely with the Lolo ya Bonobo sanctuary in the Congo to improve the lives of the bonobo’s that are rescued, and to ensure through education that future generations value and respect these animals.
WSPA is educating local communities to ensure bonobo’s remain free in in the rainforest. With your gift we can continue working with Lola ya Bonobo to ensure the future remains bright for Bonobo's.
