Wildlife Victoria has operated an Emergency Phone Service for almost 20 years which has saved 1000s of animals' lives.
The 24 hour, 7 day a week, 365 day a year, emergency rescue and information line is staffed by dedicated operators who field over 500 calls a day from members of the public, police, vets, council rangers and anyone who finds a distressed, injured, sick or orphaned animal who needs immediate help. Because of the dedication of our Emergency Phone Operators, this vital life-saving emergency service costs just $20,000 a year to operate, which means each potentially life saving call costs just $1.
The 50 calls you fund with this gift could save the lives of a kangaroo caught in a barb-wired fence, a wombat hit by a car on the highway, a possum attacked by a dog, a koala bunt by bushfire, a native bird stabbed by a fish hook, a joey orphaned by hunters who have shot the mum, and many more native animals caught in life-threatening situations.
