Lighten the Day for Two Sick Children and Their Families - $100.00
The hospital experience for children (and their siblings and families) can be daunting; they are in an unfamiliar environment, they are anxious and fearful of the illness and they can become disconnected from a ‘normal’ life. Children respond well to music or songs they know and this can help them cope with this unfamiliar environment. Music and song can help alleviate tension and anxiety and has been shown to aid pain control through distraction and/or relaxation. $100 will pay for costs for two children and their siblings and families to participate with an on-going program of Saturday afternoon workshops at The Royal Children’s Hospital that provides music, story-telling, percussion and dance in the Starlight Foundation Room.
