Indigenous Mental Health Research Project Contribution - $50
Indigenous people not only have a higher prevalence of most types of health conditions and die at almost three times the rate of non-Indigenous people, they are also twice as likely to be admitted to hospital for mental illness and three times as likely to die from mental illness as non-Indigenous Australians. Incidents of mental illness in Indigenous communities, often linked with high rates of suicide and self-harm and have strong associations with substance misuse. Help us to understand why this is happening and develop programs that work to reduce these alarming statistics.
