Huntington's Disease (HD) is a hereditary neurological condition that leads to progressively deteriorating muscle co-ordination and cognitive ability, drastically impacting the quality of life of those who are symptomatic. However, the impact of this disease affects not just individuals, but also their carers, families and the communities they live in. There is still no cure for HD.
HWA aims to help provide those affected with the best possible quality of life and currently serves about 150 families affected by HD by providing the following :
Support groups (Youth, Gene Positive, Carers, Symptomatic)
Raising awareness and understanding about HD
Weekly day care centre
Financial assistance
Collaborating in research projects related to HD
Counselling for individuals and families
Information / education for families and health care professionals
Your donations will help us to continue operating these essential services and enrich the lives of those affected by HD
