Humane Society International’s (HSI) legal challenge to request an injunction to stop the Japanese whaling company Kyodo Senpaku Kaisha Ltd from killing whales within the Australian Whale Sanctuary has lasted over 3 years. The whaling company has been responsible for the killing of an estimated 1253 minke whales and 9 fin whales within the Australian Whale Sanctuary since the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 came into force in 2000. These numbers are rising every season, so something must be done now before the species face extinction!
