Last Christmas was a disaster for Jenni. The multiple sclerosis she had been diagnosed with 15 years earlier, hit in its entirety on Christmas Eve. It took away her mobility and speech – and threatened to take away her three young children.
Jenni and her husband separated after the birth of their third child. Despite this she tried to maintain her independence to care for her children. But this changed on Christmas Eve; Jenni needed help from her children to do anything and had to go to hospital.
While she recovered in hospital, her parents searched for any option to help her regain her independence. They didn’t want their daughter to spend the rest of her life in a nursing home.
They found out about our new house in Moe, designed to meet the needs of younger people with a disability, and secured the final room for Jenni.
Now she has new friends in her housemates and our staff. Due to the community environment, Jenni can go to nearby shops and cafes by herself. Most importantly, she can
