Australia's marine environment is diverse and unique, reaching from the tropics to Antarctica.
For many years the ocean has been considered an inexhaustible resource, a place that would provide us with endless fish and a bottomless pit for our waste.
We now understand that oceans are fragile and have very real limits to what they can sustain and right now our oceans , coasts and coral reefs have never been under greater pressure.
You can help ACF is campaign for the development of a national network of marine national parks, which would protect at least 20% to 30% of each marine bioregion. as well as regional marine planning and legislative reform aimed at a sustainable fishing industry and the conservation of ocean life.
