Big Brothers Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a program about friendship. Children and young people, who are lacking a positive adult role model in their life, are matched with a specially selected adult volunteer - a "Big"- who commits to spending regular weekly time with their "Little". The young people who access the program are vulnerable and disadvantaged in many ways - whether this be due to issues in the home, at school or in their own lives. The volunteers are carefully screened and then commit to be matched with their chosen Little Brother or Little Sister for a minimum period of one year, however many of the friendships last way beyond this time frame. The BBBS program is a powerful way of changing the lives of children in the community and helping them look forward to a brighter future.
